Origins

The dragons are one of the most emblematic species of Lostria, very liked by the gods as a symbol of strength and supremacy. However, it is unclear if the dragons are a natural species or were created by gods due to their extremly magical abilities.

Characteristics

Dragons are scaled creatures that have existed since the age of gods. Those creatures possess strong magic power and a frightening adaptability. Their bodies evolve continuously as they grow to fit their environment and their needs. The biggest known dragons are the titans from ancient time who caused the apocalypse five thousand years ago which are estimated to be around 10 km long with the ability to generate powerful beams able to split the world in two.

Their evolutionary progress starts in their egg. A dragon egg is covered with magic runes that help the baby to fit perfectly to the environment it will be born in. Some experiments showed three types of dragons : Aquatic, Terrestrial and Aerial. With some very specific conditions, it is possible to create hybrids of those three types. This first step of their evolution greatly defines their upcoming life since they will have a totally different metabolism and environment. Moreover, the egg hatch only if the baby dragon is ready for its environment. Making the egg frequently change its environment takes it longer to hatch, but there is a probability to create a stronger dragon. In any case, the egg will take at least one year to hatch.

Then they hatch, the baby dragons are on average one meter long and are very dependent on their parents. They learn by imitating the other creatures they encounter and naturally try to get stronger. A common evolution among all dragons is that they develop a magic breath at some point in their life, this breath can strongly vary depending on the will and environment of the young dragon.

Natural Behavior

The dragons are extremely voracious, territorial and competitive. They generally sleeps when not overseeing their territory or hunting.

Territorial

The dragons are extremely territorial and family based. The parents possess a large territory subdivided section their children live in. If not enough space is available for dragons of the same generation, they fight and the weakest will migrate and try to find a new territory with its offspring.

One of the reason they look for good territory is due to their nature to adapt to environement. A territory with high energy and complexe environement gives great evolutionnary possibilities.
